1. Vellore Village

Located on the west side of Vaughan, Vellore Village is a charming residential community that was built with families in mind. With some of the GTA’s top schools located nearby, amazing parks, easy access to everyday essentials, and of course – fantastic homes, it’s absolutely not hard to see why families love this neighbourhood.

One of the best things about housing in Vellore Village is the variety. Ranging from spacious townhomes to modern detached properties, homes in Vellore Village are generally on the newer, more contemporary end. Along with the amazing selection of homes, other neighbourhood highlights include the super popular Vellore Village Community Centre, which is known for its brand-new fitness facilities, swimming pool, outdoor skating rinks and more.

2. Sonoma Heights

Scenically situated along the Humber River, Sonoma Heights is a relatively new, laid-back neighbourhood that’s perfect for families. As one of the most recently developed communities in Vaughan, this neighbourhood was meticulously designed for convenient suburban-style living. Today, Sonoma Heights is a friendly community that has all the essentials within arms reach including grocery stores, great restaurants, healthcare centres and more.

Similar to Vellore Village, Sonoma Heights also has a great selection of family-friendly homes – most of which are high-end, newer-build options. You’ll also find fantastic schools located within the community or nearby – including options for faith-based learning and French immersion.

3. Maple

Up along Vaughan’s northern boundary, Maple is a picturesque neighbourhood that offers a suburban lifestyle with all the amenities a family could wish for.

As one of Vaughan’s more established communities, one of the standout features of Maple is its excellent school system. Whatever age or grade their kids fall into, parents can rest easy knowing they have access to some of the best schools in the region, ensuring a great start in life.

Along with being an in-demand residential neighbourhood, Maple is perhaps best known for being home to Canada’s Wonderland. As arguably the best amusement park in the country, it’s a popular spot for families and Maple residents have it right in their backyard!

4. Kleinburg

Kleinburg, which is perhaps the most unique neighbourhood on this list, is located in the northern part of Vaughan, just beyond the city’s main sprawl. Once an independent village, Kleinburg retains its historic and rural charm while still offering families all the necessary modern amenities.

Because of its preserved small-town feel, families who love the idea of a close-knit community and separation from the hustle and bustle of city life will find Kleinburg particularly appealing. The neighbourhood is known for its beautiful and historic homes, offering a unique ambiance and plenty of character. The quiet streets and tree-lined avenues make it a perfect place for kids to play and ride their bikes safely.

Thornhill, which straddles the border of Vaughan and Markham, is a diverse and vibrant neighbourhood that truly has everything to offer. With a wide range of housing options and a strong sense of community, Thornhill has long been one of the GTA’s top destinations for families. Similar to Kleinburg, this neighbourhood was also once an independent village, however, it certainly has more of a big-suburb feel today.

As a long-standing family-oriented community, Thornhill offers excellent educational options, including numerous public and private schools that cater to a diverse range of education styles.

One local highlight is the annual Thornhill Village Festival, which celebrates the neighbourhood’s vibrant multicultural spirit with music, food, and cultural performances. This event is always a hit with families.
